This is so incredibly relatable. The worst part about being sensitive and angry is that I basically cry every time I get super mad!! Which then makes people think you’re like hurt or sad but really you’re just ANGRY! It’s so aggravating! Thank you for sharing, I’m glad I’m not alone!!
This is so insanely relevant of an article — I was just thinking about this! You read my mind, Emma. Great writing, per usual, and the way you separated your examples into three subgroups really opens it up (and it’s so true too). So glad you have positive people around you!! In theory, the brighter your light shines, the more moths will come to try and share it with you (no offense to the moths haha).
Thank you so much, that’s so so kind of you 🩷 and yes I couldn’t agree with your theory more! It is EXACTLY that. Thank you for reading and for you constant encouragement 🩷
Ugh, I relate. Being told I’m non-confrontational, agreeable… and the anger that ensues (while still smiling). It’s extremely frustrating - and I know people treat you the way you let them treat you. Do we have to become arseholes ourselves to fight back?
My coping mechanism is detaching and also changing countries every few years to refresh my environment. Not sure if it’s healthy, but at least I’m learning about new cultures!

YES!! THIS!!
And then they go, “I shouldn’t have told you anyway, I knew you’d react like this.” Just because I’m crying, it doesn’t mean you can’t tell me things!
Thank you so much for your lovely words and kind support ❤️
Beautiful share, Emma. And I hear you. Being sensitive is both a blessing and a curse. I suffer both, but I honestly wouldn’t trade it
Thank you so much!!❤️ sensitivity is both the bane and blessing of my life, I couldn’t relate more!
“They would blow hot and cold, treating me to icy winds when I walked through the door and deserts of stretching silence in the evenings.”
Beautiful imagery.
And I really loved what you said about thin skin being able to fully absorb art. I feel like that’s really true.
Keep shutting up your “arsehole self” 😆 You are wonderful.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for always supporting my pieces! It means so much to me :)
Absolutely, being thin-skinned is the most effective way to absorb any emotion, including admiring art, in my opinion.
Of course, so happy to do it! I enjoy reading what you write.
That is so kind of you!!
Hiring you because you seem non-confrontation that took me out. Such a relatable post as always, Emma <3
Thank you so much! 💙 and ikr, it was a new low for me to be told that was literally most of the reason I was hired!

The eternal battle!!! We never want to become arseholes in return, but I’m beginning to wonder if it’s the only way to survive!!!

Oooh I’m a big fan of this idea, I might just have to take a leaf out of your book!
